Our recreational dance classes in Charlotte, NC are available for ages 2 - 18!
With over 20 years of combined experience in dance education, our instructors are able to demonstrate and teach a variety of recreational dance styles. Whether you want to learn ballet, jazz, hip-hop, majorette, or another type of dance, we have the class for you. Our recreational dance classes are offered one day a week to fit parents and children with busy lifestyles.
Our goal is to provide a fun learning environment that is always family-friendly, as well as educational. We hope to build memories and friendships that will last as you study the art of dance. Our classes are always small and intimate to create the ideal learning environment. Annually, we offer exciting local performances and an "End of Dance Season Recital” to showcase our dancers and their accomplishments, all recreational dancers participate in this fun and memorable experience! TuTus & Tumbling
Minis: (Ages 2-4) Preschool Classes at Lil Miss Fits Dance are arranged by specific age groups. We do this to ensure that classes are developmentally appropriate for our youngest dancers. This also encourages preschoolers to build social skills with their peers in a fun, active and stimulating environment. No previous dance experience is required to enroll in a preschool dance class.
This class is an introduction to dance for toddlers. Curriculum includes creative movement, pre-ballet, musical theater, and tumbling. The emphasis is on having fun while learning coordination, balance, rhythm and self-confidence. Students learn dance classroom etiquette, such as how to follow directions and take turns. Classes are 45 minutes and are held every Wednesday from 5:30 pm- 6:15 pm. Leotard, tights and pink canvas ballet shoes are required.
This is considered our Novice (Recreational) level of dance. Dancers who have little or no dance/competition experience and take less than 4 hours of class per week. This dancer will learn the fundamentals of each genre of dance and the stage performance elements.
Hip Hop: This form of street dance features a wide range of dance styles including krumping, tutting, breaking, locking, popping, partner stunts, and Acro Tricks! Curriculum includes self expression, freestyle & improvisation, and dance crew battles. Students learn teamwork, while exploring their personal styles, and unifying their individuality. Classes are 60 minutes and are held every Wednesday from 6:15 pm - 7:15 pm. Urban Street Wear and sneakers are required.
Technique/Jazz: This class is the perfect combination to dance for our recreational dancers. It includes Cecchetti ballet technique and high-energy jazz combinations to upbeat, age appropriate music. Class format consists of warm-up and floor stretches, followed up across-the-floor or center-floor combinations. As students progress, more advanced combinations and skills are introduced – both in technique & jazz. Focus is on use of proper terminology and growing vocabulary, as well as rhythm, coordination, musical counting and body alignment. Class is 60 minutes and every Wednesday from 7:15 pm - 8:15 pm. Leotard, flesh-tone tights, pink canvas ballet shoes, black jazz shoes.
