The Company

Charlotte Dance Collective (formerly known as Lil Miss Fits Dance Studio) is a youth development organization using dance classes and community performance as a vehicle to provide young women discipline, leadership, accountability, creativity, respect, and teamwork skills needed to confront daily adversity and to take advantage of given opportunities. The program aims to amplify the voices of girls who are often overlooked and seeks to decrease teen pregnancy, violence, substance abuse and school dropout. By building self-confidence and giving girls a safe place to go, new doors can be opened.

Charlotte Dance Collective, created by Jiya Williams in 2015, serves dancers who represent underserved communities and minorities, age 31/2 thru High School. The students of Charlotte Dance Collective gains skills in the following genres: Ballet, Pointe, Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, African Dance, Dance Acro and Majorette. The students also receive opportunities to participate in dance competitions, local performances, photoshoots, an Annual Dance Showcase, community service projects, and fundraising!

We provide both recreational and competition classes. Recreation classes are for those students who are interested in taking dance as an extracurricular activity. For those students who wish to take their skills and abilities to a higher level, we offer competition classes. We also provide private sessions in choreography, gymnastics, tumbling, and technique.

The Charlotte Dance Collective season runs from September - July. Over the course of a season, the students will perform in local, out of state, and competitive events.
